Alexander Georgievich Shorin was born in the village of Arti, Sverdlovsk Region in 1973. In 1998, he received a bachelor's degree in geology from the Ural State Mining and Geological Academy (now the Ural State Mining University). In 2000, he received a master's degree in geology at the same university. In 2010, he received a diploma of higher education as a teacher of philosophy at the Ural State University named after A.M. Gorky (now the Ural Federal University named after Boris Yeltsin).
A. G. Shorin is the author of scientific articles on the history of mining and on geology. From 1997 to 2000 he worked as the editor of the Gornyak newspaper of the Ural State Mining University, and from 2004 to 2015, he worked as a journalist for the Oblastnoy Gazeta. Since 2015 A.G. Shorin is the editor of the journal Izvestia of the Ural State Mining University, since 2016 - executive secretary, and since 2018, the deputy editor-in-chief of the journal Izvestia of the Ural State Mining University.
